Burned into

If something is “burned into” your mind or memory, it means that it left a lasting or permanent impression on you and is difficult to forget. When you learn something new, memories get “burned into,” or imprinted, in your short-term brain memory. When you witness something traumatic, like a car accident, that incident might be “burned into” your memory. It is difficult to forget the memory of the car accident.
