If something or someone “bursts onto the scene,” it appears suddenly or becomes popular or famous quickly. The Segway scooter “burst onto the scene” in 2001, or became famous very quickly, after the inventor made big promises about how it would revolutionize personal transportation. A person can also “burst onto the scene.” After the YouTuber Justin Bieber was discovered by a talent manager in 2008, he “burst onto the scene,” or exploded in popularity.
