To “cheat the system” means to achieve what you want by breaking rules or by finding clever ways of working within them. Vaccine passports may tempt people to try to “cheat the system” – young people to cut in front of the elderly, say, or for hospital administrators or politicians to prioritize their friends. Some finance tycoons have “cheated the system” by illegally trading off of insider tips.
