Hero’s welcome

A “hero’s welcome” is an enthusiastic welcome for someone who has done something brave or praiseworthy. In Beijing, Ms. Meng was given a “hero’s welcome,” as throngs of cheering citizens greeted her back in her native country. Ms. Meng was given an enthusiastic welcome back in Beijing. The Olympic champion was given a “hero’s welcome” when he arrived back to his hometown after the Games.
