If you generally support a person, you’re in that person’s corner. This is a boxing metaphor. When two boxers confront each other, each boxer has his own corner to use during rests. Each boxer has supporters who gather in his corner.

Metaphorically, to be in someone’s corner simply means to support that person. A lot of lawyers and legal analysts are skeptical about the indictment against Donald Trump. People in Trump’s corner are calling it a miscarriage of justice. However, even many lawyers not in Trump’s corner (people who don’t support Trump) are skeptical about these charges.
