A “match made in heaven” is an extremely well-suited pairing of people or things. This type of match will most likely result in a very positive or successful outcome. In 1934, Australian sugar cane farmers were battling a species of beetles that were eating their sugar cane stalks. So they found a kind of toad in Hawaii that eats this exact kind of beetle – a “match made in heaven,” from the perspective of farmers. Farmers viewed the frogs as the perfect match to eat the pesky beetles, and they thought it would result in a successful outcome for their sugar cane crop. The bride and groom are a “match made in heaven.”
