Run dry

If something “runs dry,” it becomes unavailable due to the entire supply having been used up. After the Colonial Pipeline was shut down, lines, hundreds of cars long, formed outside the gas stations that had not yet “run dry.” Lines formed outside the gas stations that still had a supply of gas. Supplies of vaccines in many countries have already “run dry,” or the vaccine supplies have all been used up.
