Seal the deal

To “seal the deal” is to do something that makes an agreement or an arrangement official. Many voters preferred the Conservatives, but didn’t commit until the last minute. Boris Johnson’s promise to “get Brexit done” may have been the promise that sealed the deal. It may have been the promise that finally convinced enough people to vote for his party. It was the piece that made citizen’s decision final.
