Silver bullet

A “silver bullet” is something that acts as a magical weapon, especially one that instantly solves a long-standing problem. The new scheme will be a net improvement, but not a “silver bullet:” no technology is perfectly secure. The new scheme won’t be a magic fix to the problem. The recent climate report makes it clear that there is no “silver bullet” to solving global warming.
