UAE shifts weekend to Saturday-Sunday and adopts a 4.5-day workweek

The UAE announced that it’s changing its weekend from Friday-Saturday to Saturday-Sunday to match the western world. Friday has historically been the Islamic day for prayers, so to accommodate that tradition, the country is adopting a compromise. The UAE also gave everyone less than a month’s notice for the change.
