Use “cast doubt on” when a piece of information makes something else seem uncertain, untrue or invalid. In today’s episode, you’ll hear: “Outside agencies, including the European Court of Human Rights, have cast doubt on the legitimacy of Navalny’s convictions.” That means the outside agencies made the convictions seem less certain or less valid. Here’s another example: A new report casts doubt on the politician’s honesty.
