In movies, tv series, and books, a “flashback” is a scene that took place before the main plot. For example, a movie about an adult might have a flashback to when that adult was a child. That would help the viewers understand more about the adult character.

A flash forward is the opposite: they are scenes that take place after the events of the main plot. Better Call Saul is about a character’s rise to fame (or infamy) as a lawyer. But the series also includes scenes that take place long after the main plot.

In this way, you understand a little more about what happened later. (In a flashback, you understand more about what happened earlier.)
