“Immediately” usually means “really fast,” but it has another meaning. Immediate neighborhood, immediate surroundings, immediate family: in all these instances, it means “really close.” Your immediate family are your closest family members. Your immediate surroundings are the things really close to you right now. Your immediate neighborhood is the closest area around you. I’m writing this in downtown Cincinnati, and there aren’t a lot of great restaurants in the immediate area, but if you walk about 10 minutes, there are some good places to eat. Those places are not in the immediate neighborhood because they’re farther away.
