A “meet-and-greet” is a brief meeting with a celebrity (or other well-known person). This typically refers to a block of time in which the well-known person meets many other people at the same time, to say hello, shake hands, and maybe take a photo. This is not used for in-depth meetings.

“Meet-and-greets” with famous characters are a feature of theme parks. The characters walk around the park shaking hands with (or hugging) visitors. They say hello, take pictures, and move on. The meetings are not very long.

Politicians, celebrities, and business leaders may all host meet-and-greets for fans or supporters. For example, attendees at a conference might be invited to pay extra for a meet-and-greet with all the speakers.
