Poke fun

To “poke fun at” something or someone is to make gentle, lighthearted jokes about it. This is the same as “make fun of,” except that “poke fun” is always gentle and friendly. If you poke fun at someone, everyone is laughing and nobody has their feelings hurt.

There are a lot of people who don’t like Comic Sans. Some of them are mean-spirited. But the majority are not. There are a lot of people who like to poke fun at Comic Sans and the people who use the font in inappropriate places.

People who poke fun at Comic Sans make lighthearted jokes, jokes that are not too serious or hurtful about the font and the way that it is often (mis) used.
