A “star-studded cast” refers to a movie, play, or television show that has a cast full of especially famous people. The cast refers to the group of actors/actresses in a production. Many movies have one or two big stars (famous actors), plus other actors with a range of experience and skill.

However, some movies have a lot of stars in comparison with others. When that happens, you say a movie has a “star-studded” cast.

“The Morning Show” is a good example. Jennifer Anniston, Steve Carrell, Reese Witherspoon, Jon Hamm, Martin Short, Mindy Kaling…these are all very well-known actors. There are a lot of big names in just one show. For that reason, we say “The Morning Show” has a star-studded cast.
