Today, I shared some personal news in your podcast feed. Here's the short version: I'm leaving my traditional job to focus 100% on Plain English! 🥳
Here's the audio if you haven't heard it:
As a follow-up to the audio, I wanted to share a few points:
I've been balancing Plain English and a traditional job at a consulting firm for a long time. Over the years, I found that my personal interests and passion were more with Plain English and our community than with serving clients and working for a big firm.
During the last year, I've been working just half time in my traditional job. In that time, we've re-launched the web site with a brand-new design and made a number of improvements behind the scenes.
However, as the Plain English community grows, it needs my full attention. The time is right for me to dedicate my full professional energy to you and your fellow members.
In the immediate future, there won't be much change for you:
However, you can expect several improvements:
As a reminder, your price will never go up as long as you are a member of Plain English Plus+. So even as we add great benefits to the membership, they will all be included in your current price.
I am not planning to raise the price for new members, but it's always possible in the future. Therefore, if you want to take a break from Plain English Plus+, it's best to pause your membership instead of cancel. By pausing, you lock in your current price.
I have to admit a "mea culpa" on this one. I haven't been updating the weekly quiz very often. However, I'm re-dedicating myself to updating the Quiz on your dashboard. So check back every week and try to answer all the questions right!
In today's audio, I mentioned that I'll be spending more time in the listener Facebook group, which is open to everyone. As a Plus+ member, you are more than welcome to join the Facebook group and participate.
You might be wondering about the difference between the forums, including the Question of the Week, and the Facebook group.
Here's the difference:
I'll check into the Facebook group, make some posts, react to others, say hello, and generally be friendly with the free members that are there. I'll also be using the Facebook group as a way to encourage people to upgrade to the Plus+ membership. You are of course more than welcome to join at this link.
The forums are for Plus+ members only and I will pay much more attention to every post in the forums. I'll be checking the forums and the practice areas every day as part of my new routine. If you want to get more of my attention, the place to do it is the forums.
Remember, we have:
Finally, thank you so much for being such an important part of Plain English! Whether you've been with us from the beginning or you've recently joined us, I'm inspired by your stories and your dedication to English. I can't wait to show you what the future holds.
Wish me luck in my entrepreneurial journey! You'll be hearing much more from me in the future.
